We Brought Back Swimming This Sunday at 91 Sports, Sahakar Nagar

This past Sunday, Botle headed to 91 Sporting in Sahakar Nagar for a swim session. It had been a while since we last put swimming on the calendar.

91 Sporting has a decent setup, clean pool, proper lanes, showers and changing rooms, staff around if you need anything. Makes things easy for a Sunday morning plan, you just show up and get in the water.

The group was a mix, some people who swim regularly and a few who hadn't been in a pool in a while. Some did laps and kept track of their time, others mostly just floated around and talked. Midway through we got a modified game of water polo going, and that ended up being the highlight, everyone was in it, laughing, splashing around, genuinely into the game the whole time. By the end most people had mixed in with each other regardless of what group they came in with.

A few of us had come straight from a run that morning and getting into the pool right after turned out to be a good call. The water took the edge off the legs in a way stretching alone never really does, it felt like proper recovery and not just an extra activity tacked on.

A pool session feels a bit different from our usual runs or gym meetups, less about competing, more just about being in the water and taking the morning slow. A couple of people said they'd want this to happen more often instead of once in a while.

The pool at 91 Sporting is temperature controlled, so the water stays consistent regardless of what it's like outside. That matters to us because it means swimming doesn't have to be a seasonal thing, you can swim there whether it's peak summer or a cooler weekend.

This ties into something we keep working on, expanding swimming pool coverage on Botle. We get requests specifically asking for temperature-controlled pools, and we're onboarding more facilities that have this. The idea is you should be able to swim on Botle through the year, not just when the weather works out.

We're planning to bring swimming back more regularly on the calendar. If you want in on the next one, keep an eye out.
